Solid Advice When Trying To Combat Seasonal Allergies

In the US, about 90% of the time, we’re outdoors, but over 50% of Americans have allergies. The symptoms that are caused by allergies only sound minor to those who are fortunate enough not to deal with the problem. If you’re an allergy sufferer, you know what a constant hassle the symptoms can be. The article below discusses helpful ways to get your allergies in check.

While skin tests are useful for identifying potentially problematic allergens, it is almost impossible to use test results to predict the probable severity of an allergic reaction to those substances. For instance, the skin test may reveal that you are sensitive to a spore that is common in your region. It’s possible to have mild or even no symptoms when near allergens.

A great way to treat any type of bronchial allergies is to always make sure your body is getting enough fluids. When you become dehydrated, your mucous membranes get dry and irritated and by extension are more vulnerable to allergens. Dehydration can affect your bronchial tubes since it makes the mucous membranes create secretions that are hard to break-up.

Avoid any product that contains colorant. This includes bathroom tissue, which might have some sort of dye. Go for plain white paper products in your home and see if it makes a difference in your allergic suffering.

If you are having allergy symptoms and you have pets, you may not know if the pets are causing your symptoms. An easy way to answer the question is to undergo dander allergy testing under a doctor’s supervision. This does not mean that you have to re-home your pet, all it means is that you might need to make changes in your lifestyle.

Try not to get too stressed out. Stress can be a major factor in causing you to have allergic reactions. People who have asthma know this more than anything. The more you are stressed, the more chances you have at having an allergic reaction. Reducing stress won’t eliminate asthma, but it can cause attacks to become shorter and less frequent.

Where and when you exercise can make you more vulnerable to allergic reactions. Exercise can be hard on your respiratory system. If you exercise indoors during times when pollen count is at its lowest, you will reduce the amount of allergens entering your body.

Carefully choose non allergenic antiperspirants. Antiperspirants typically have ingredients that aren’t good for your skin. As a result, they can cause you to break out after you shave, which eventually get into your pores. Those ingredients could cause both you and your skin damage.

Do not forget to pack allergy medication when you travel. You never know the kinds of new allergens that can present themselves or exacerbate your current symptoms. If you have suffered through severe allergic reactions before, then you should consider carrying an Epi-pen. An Epi-pen contains a dose of epinephrine that can rapidly treat a life-threatening allergic reaction.

Keep your garbage outside. Rodents, insects and other vermin are attracted to garbage. Remember, mice droppings are a common allergen. If you still find rodent droppings, you may need to use traps to rid your home of the pests. If that doesn’t work, consider poison.

As stated at the beginning of this article, although we spend most of our time outside, many of us have allergies of one form or another. Whatever you are allergic to, hopefully you have found the information you need and can use right now to start improving your life, allergies or not.
