I first stumbled upon 88 Acres last fall when looking for a granola bar that was gluten-free and didn’t contain nuts. My search came up fruitless, it appeared to me that granola seemed to go hand in hand with nuts (lots of them) and most often also traces of gluten. I felt like I’d never be able to find safe granola…until I discovered the company 88 Acres.

It’s no secret I have a sweet tooth, but I love when I can find something that feels a bit sinful to eat and figure out a recipe to make it healthier and allergy-free. After going gluten-free a few years ago waffles seemed like a breakfast item I could safely say goodbye to. Other than buckwheat, most waffles aren’t gluten-free and honestly, while delicious, are not particularly healthy. This changed after I discovered a recipe that was full of protein, and free of allergens: Power Protein Waffles!
Cinnamon raisin, everything, plain, blueberry, onion, french toast, rainbow bagel. I love them all. There’s nothing better than a Sunday morning with coffee, newspaper, and a toasted everything bagel topped with onions, capers, and lox. That is, unless you’re subjected to eating a gluten-less bagel, which for the most part are bad. Really, really bad. Until Sweet Note Bakery came along.
Through my mad search combos on Google, I stumbled upon The Really Great Food Company. Intrigued by their straight-forward and promising name, I found that they made baking mixtures that were gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free, egg-free, soy-free, and more. Best of all? They had a Irish Soda Bread mix. Taking less than an hour to make this seemed like something I could make happen. It’s a miracle!
Today we’re talking all about KUGEL! The combo of sweet and savory really speaks to me..which is why when I moved towards a gluten-free, nut-free diet, Kugel seemed like a dish I’d have to say goodbye to. With Passover right around the corner, I went on a search for my favorite gluten-free, nut-free, kugel recipes. Even if you don’t celebrate Passover, I highly recommend trying kugel, it will change your life!
I’ve found it very difficult to find great sourdough bread, add in the gluten-free factor, and I’m basically out of luck…until I discovered Bread Srsly. Gluten-Free, Nut-Free, vegan sourdough for the sensitive foodie? Handmade? Was this real? I couldn’t wait to get to their San Francisco headquarters to try it out for myself. Let me tell you..their bread is something else. I wanted to cry tears of joy after eating my first bite of sourdough in over five years. It was THAT good.
True Story: one of my favorite things in the world is exploring supermarkets when I’m traveling abroad. During my trip to Rio De Janerio in Brazil last December I discovered a variety of amazing gluten-free treats. My favorite find wasn’t a native Brazilian product, it was a gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free loaf of bread all the way from Loveland, Colorado!
Every year when St. Patrick’s Day rolls around I get excited as it’s a chance for me to eat my favorite Irish food! It’s been a bit more difficult the past few years due to my gluten-intolerance and accommodating my husband’s nut allergy, but this year will be a different story! Here are some of my favorite nut-free, gluten-free, and a few dairy-free St. Patrick’s Day recipes.
