I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Allergy-Free Ice Cream!

One of the most common questions I see in the nut allergy community is “where can I find nut-free ice cream?!?” Here’s the answer: A La Mode Shoppe in NYC, a 100% nut-free ice cream shop with dairy-free and gluten-free options as well. I chatted with owner Sandy Roth about how A La Mode Shoppe got started, her favorite flavor combo, how they keep a dedicated nut-free facility, the future of their business, and more!

The Royal Yacht Britannia: Gluten-Free High Tea

Gluten Free Tea and Scones

During my trip to Edinburgh, Scotland last month I visited The Royal Yacht Britannia. I was expecting to get a dose of history and see a beautiful yacht, but hadn’t realized that the visit would also offer a wonderful allergy-free dining experience. Not only would I finally be able to get my high tea fix, but it would be in the nautical residence of the Queen! This discovery was truly the icing on the gluten-free cake!

How Sweet It Is..

While I am guilty of having a sweet tooth, I do try to make smart choices when indulging in treats, especially candy. I’ve made it a rule to stay away from anything with high fructose corn syrup which immediately eliminates most brands of candy, until I stumbled upon Surf Sweets last year. Surf Sweets candies are gluten free, nut-free, soy-free, GMO-free, casein free, organic, and allergy friendly (free of the most common food allergens including wheat, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, soy, fish and shellfish)!

Going Crazy for Coco’s Creamery!

2016 has been the year of the coconut for me. I’ve been limiting the amount of dairy in my diet, and it’s been all about coconut, all the time! A few weeks ago I stumbled across Coco’s Creamery on instagram and immediately fell in love with their beautiful packaging and delicious flavors. What sold me even more than the design of the package was the fact that all of their frozen desserts are dairy-free, gluten-free, egg-free, soy-free, and peanut-free.

Mexican Chocolate Brownies, Allergy Free Wife Style

While I love classic brownies, one of the flavor profiles I can never get enough of is Mexican chocolate. Something about the spicy kick mixed with the sweetness of chocolate is one of the best things in the world. I did some experimenting and am happy to report back that my recipe for Mexican Brownies using The Really Great Food Company’s Brownie Mix is a must try. Beware, you won’t be able to eat just one!

Allergy-Free Baked Goods in Under 60 Minutes? It’s Possible!

Through my mad search combos on Google, I stumbled upon The Really Great Food Company. Intrigued by their straight-forward and promising name, I found that they made baking mixtures that were gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free, egg-free, soy-free, and more. Best of all? They had a Irish Soda Bread mix. Taking less than an hour to make this seemed like something I could make happen. It’s a miracle!

Doughnuts, Sugar Cookies, Cakes, and more!

Last December I discovered A&J Bakery, a dedicated nut-free and gluten-free bakery located in Cranston, Rhode Island. During a trip to Rhode Island I was lucky enough to visit the bakery in person! As we walked through the doors, I realized there are very few spots in the world where my husband and I can pick out anything that we can safely eat together. I felt like a kid in a candy store, I wanted to buy EVERYTHING!
